The one rule that defines a parlay
A mix parlay bundles two or more selections, often from different matches, into a single bet. The decimal odds of every leg multiply together, which is why a small stake can show a large potential payout. The defining rule sits on the other side of that multiplication: every leg must win. Nine correct picks and one wrong one is a losing slip, the same as ten wrong picks.

The multiplication, illustrated
As pure arithmetic and not a quote from any live market: three legs at decimal odds of 1.80 each multiply to about 5.83, so a RM10 stake shows a potential return of about RM58.30. Add a fourth leg at 1.80 and the multiplier becomes about 10.49. The payout curve is the whole attraction, and it climbs quickly.
Now the part the banners skip. Every leg's price includes the bookmaker's margin, and multiplying legs compounds that margin. Two legs compound it twice, six legs compound it six times. The longer the slip, the further the true odds drift from fair value. That is not cheating, it is how the product is built, and it is why parlays are promoted harder than single bets.
Voids, postponements and cash out
Football reality interferes with parlays: matches get postponed, players get injured before kick-off, legs become void. Most sportsbooks handle a void leg by removing it and recalculating the slip at the remaining combined odds, so a three-leg slip with one void becomes a two-leg slip. Rules differ between sites, especially around abandoned matches, so read the parlay section of the sportsbook's terms before building long slips.
